A BIKE, "yarn bombed" by key stage two children at Burnsall Primary School, will go on show as part of this year's Yarndale Festival.
The event celebrates "all things woolly and wonderful” and will take place at Skipton Auction Mart over the weekend of September 27 and 28.
One of its attractions is a woolly bike trail through Skipton Woods - and one of the featured bikes will be the Burnsall creation.
It has a rainforest theme - in line with last term's topic which prompted the children to take action to help the plight of these critically endangered forests and to raise money to buy as many acres as possible.
A fundraising "fun morning" was devised, planned and executed by the children - they even wrote letters to local businesses requesting raffle prizes.
Rainforest fancy dress, photo and cake competitions and a coffee and information morning enabled the children to raise £400 - which has gone towards buying and preserving just over three acres of actual rainforest.
Key Stage two teacher Michelle Thackery said: “The children excelled themselves and created not only an amazing morning of fun, but they also got behind a very important global issue and did something positive and proactive to help. We are really grateful to all the local businesses who made our fantastic raffle possible too.”
