NEW toilets have opened in Earby.

Brand new male and female toilets have been built at the bus station in the West Craven town.

Earby Town Council funded the project, which cost £14,000

"The next thing is to get the old bus station toilet block demolished," said Councillor Chris Tennant. "They were very old and didn't look very nice."

Cllr Tennant also said the town council has nearly finished the refurbishment of toilets near the Station Hotel, on Colne Road.

"The disabled toilet there had to be completely refurbished because it wasn't up to standard," he said.

The town council almost doubled its precept - from approximately £26,000 to nearly £50,000 - to take over the running of the toilets from Pendle Council in April of this year.
