YOUNGSTERS at Embsay Primary School will provide a beacon of light during the dark mornings and evenings.

Those who live in the village and walk to school have been provided with high visibility vests - thanks to an idea from mum of two Jenny Irwin who wanted to make sure her children were safe.

It followed a conversation with Police Community Support Officer Pearson who covers Embsay parish, and support from Stacey Reffin, from Safer Craven Partnership, which is running a number of "be bright, be safe, be seen!" events.

JACS in Skipton produced the vests and Gavin Haworth offered to print them at no charge, with a reminder to drivers on t he back that there is a 30mph speed limit through the village.
