GRASSINGTON man Paul Webster is planning to walk the entire length of the 268-mile in 17 days.

Starting on Saturday, he will walk from 8am to 5pm each day and is due to finish on May 7 - his 55th birthday.

His challenge also coincides with the route's 50th anniversary.

Paul has dreamed of completing the long-distance footpath since he first walked some of it at the age of 13 and has now decided by fulfil his goal and raise money for Manorlands Hospice at the same time.

Throughout his career in the ambulance service, Paul has been aware of the care and support given by the hospice.

He is hoping to be joined along the way by friends, family and colleagues, who will walk for short periods with him. However, he expects to be doing the latter part of the walk in Scotland alone.

Paul said: “I would really appreciate any support that people can give towards my fundraising challenge. It will really help me on my journey to know that people are donating to this very important cause."

And Debra Chalmers, hospice fundraiser, said: “This is an amazing challenge that Paul is undertaking. We are so grateful that he is raising money for Manorlands Hospice as part of his challenge. We wish him all the best with his journey."
