VISITORS will be able to discover Gargrave's garden gems next weekend.

It is holding its annual open gardens event next Saturday, July 4, from 11am to 5pm.

Organisers Duncan and Beatrice Faulkner said: "Gargrave Open Gardens has been running for longer than we can remember and this is our sixth year as organisers.

"This year we have a bumper crop, with 30 gardens opening, including six delightful newcomers to add to the variety of Gargrave’s garden gems. Two are bonus gardens in Bell Busk.

"As well as the flowers and foliage beloved of garden visitors, there will be riverside gardens, vegetable gardens, gardens for children to explore and gardens for wildlife."

Live music will be performed in some of the gardens and at the village hall, where refreshments, lunches and a plant stall will be on offer.

Proceeds will go to St Andrew's Church.

Advanced garden "passports" costing £3 are on sale at Twin Locks Garden Centre and Crossgates, The Barn, North Street, while passports on the day will cost £4 and can be purchased from the village hall.
