MORE than 50 people attended the harvest thanksgiving service at St James’ Church, Dalehead, near Tosside.
The tiny church was full to overflowing and several families had travelled many miles to keep up the tradition set by their forefathers when Dalehead was a thriving community before the construction of Stocks Reservoir.
Dr Glyn Price, of Burton in Lonsdale, conducted the service, with Dorothy Baines playing the keyboard and Cathy Rowland the guitar as well as singing songs of thanks.
After the service, the congregation enjoyed a Jacob's Join tea and there was lot of reminiscing over Slaidburn Archive's photographic display about Dalehead.
An auction of the harvest produce and gifts was held and, together with donations, a total of £306 was raised for church funds.
Churchwarden John Ashworth thanked everyone for attending and said it was wonderful it was to see such a large attendance. He also thanked all who had been involved in making the service so special.
