A TALK about newspaper archives offering insights into the Great War will be held in Barnoldswick.

Lancashire County Council's community heritage team is helping people to discover the importance of newspapers of the time as a way of finding out more about the First World War.

The talk will take place at Barnoldswick Library at 2pm on October 30.

Fiona McIntyre, community heritage manager, said: "We're lucky to have an excellent collection of newspapers dating from this time.

"Visitors will be able to learn more about what was reported and how stories were covered.

"We'll also examine some personal stories, letters and obituaries of local people in the newspapers."

The talk is free to attend but booking is essential as places are limited. Call 0300 1236703 to book.
