STUDENTS at a Barnoldswick high school created creepy crawlies to help them with their use of punctuation.

To embed the use of accurate punctuation securely into all areas of the curriculum, pupils in years seven, eight and nine at West Craven High School were challenged to their own punctuation spiders.

Using a colon for eyes, an apostrophe for its tongue and the remaining symbols dangling from each leg, students created some fantastic visual representations which will help them proof-read and improve their work.

Year nine pupil Amelia Lyle created the winning entry, which will now be printed and displayed around classrooms in school.

Runners up were Holly Baldwin and Sharanjit Kaur.
