A GRAND opening of upgraded and new facilities at Horton-in-Ribblesdale playing fields will take place on May 14.
The improvements have been made possible through Lottery funding and Sports England.
The official opening, from noon to 4pm, will involve members of the families who formed the Playing Fields Association when the field was purchased back in the early 1960s.
There will be a bikeability session from noon to 1pm and fitness fun for key stage one and two children from 1.30pm.
And, at 2.30pm, local UK athletics coach and Bikeability instructor, Jill Eccleston, will oversee a 'runbikefun' event, with the winner receiving a one-hour free coaching session.
Other attractions include football matches at 1.30pm, netball matches at 2.30pm and mini rounders matches throughout the afternoon, comprising of teams of 12 – six adults and six children.
