TEN year 11 pupils from West Craven High School in Barnoldswick were given exams advice at a PiXL Maths Conference in Harrogate.

They joined more than 1,000 pupils from all over the North of England for an insight into innovative approaches to GCSE maths revision and motivation for the upcoming exam season.

Students were given a range of learning tools and methodologies which could be applied to all aspects of the examination.

After lunch, international motivational speaker David McQueen gave a presentation to the pupils on how positive thinking and self-belief would be crucial to their success.

Head of Maths Phil Hammond said: “Although the students did some really intense and challenging work across the day, they have all had an excellent response to the activities looking at exam techniques they need in summer.”

Year 11 student Jasmine Cooper added: “I never knew a conference could be so much fun - David was incredibly funny! The ideas shared today can only help us succeed in the summer exams.”
