PLANNING permission has been given to convert a Silsden farmhouse into three new homes.

Bradford Council planners approved the application for Cringles House Farm in Bolton Road despite objections from Silsden Town Council.

Councillors felt the conversion would be an overdevelopment in the greenbelt around Silsden.

They also raised concerns about the siting of a septic tank in close proximity to the reservoir of Bolton Road, and limitations on the present electric supply in Silsden.

Bradford Council attached conditions to the approval, including the appearance of stonework on the outside of the building and replacement doors and windows.

Planners agreed a town council request that two piers, re-sited to the farm house access road from a Silsden church, should remain on the site.

During a recent Silsden Town Council meeting, Cllr Peter Robinson was elected mayor to replace long-serving leader Cllr Chris Atkinson. Cllr Francis Huggins was elected deputy mayor.
