STUDENTS at West Craven High School in Barnoldswick now have something in common with Usain Bolt.
Like the famous Jamaican sprinter, who holds world records in the 100m and 200m, pupils at West Craven can also claim to be record breakers.
A world record attempt was recently made by 154 West Craven students from Years 7, 8 and 9 taking part in the 'largest reading lesson'.
The students joined with others from across the country to smash the present record of more than 2,000 participants.
With more than 70 schools involved and in excess of 100 participants in each of those schools, the previous world record was smashed.
"Being involved in an event like this is always fun but it also helps to boost confidence in reading," said Chris Tatton, an English teacher at West Craven, who helped organise the event. "This is a great event for all those involved to look back on with pride. It's not every day you break a world record."
