A VISIT to a Skipton summer holiday scheme by farm animals was this week under threat.

Roger and Penny Staniland planned to take their mini donkeys, alpacas and goats to the Skipton Extended Learning holiday camp.

But the couple’s trailer was taken on Friday afternoon from their Hart Farm in the Yorkshire Dales hamlet of Hawkswick.

Penny said four young men were seen taking the Ifor Williams trailer, meaning the Stanilands now have to find alternative transport.

She added: “The trailer is used to transport wonderful animals to various locations to provide joy and comfort to children facing life challenges, such as bereavement, illness and disability.

“The trailer had signs on each side promoting the work and thanking the CLA, which had generously helped to purchase the second-hand trailer two years ago.

“It had also been customised inside to provide three secure areas to transport mini donkeys, alpacas and goats together to hospices, special schools and holiday camps.”

Police have warned that anyone a secondhand trailer should look for faded oval and rectangular marks on the outside and unusual fitting marks on the inside.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the police non-emergency number on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
