SANDSTONE will be used in the building of seven new homes in a field at the junction of Raines Road and Brackenber Lane, Giggleswick.
Craven District Council had stipulated that the homes were to be built in limestone, but Monday's planning committee was told sandstone would be more in keeping.
Limestone will however still feature in the development, but as a new boundary wall across the width of the field, and enclosing the houses.
Senior planning officer Neville Watson told councillors it was important to realise the development would not take up the whole field and that sandstone was typical in the area. The homes will be made up of a terrace of three, and four, four bedroom detached homes.
Mike Smith, director of builders, Burley Developments Group, said the reclaimed sandstone was the same material as used in a development in Giggleswick.
"We think it is appropriate and will look well in the location," he said.
