THE former Keelham Farm Shop in Skipton has been put up for sale - almost three months after its shock closure.

The business off Gargrave Road, close to the A59/A65 roundabout, closed suddenly just after Christmas and all its employees made redundant.

Administrators tried to find a buyer to take on the business, and initially reported interest, but in January confirmed that the site would have to be sold.

Watling Real Estate, appointed to sell the property, is now inviting potential buyers to put in an offer for the site, which is being described as 'suitable for a variety of uses' subject to planning.

Rob Cruikshank, associate director in Watling Real Estate’s Leeds office, said: “This is a prominent site, approximately one mile north west of Skipton, located next to the main roundabout on the A65 and A59 highways, and is offered with vacant possession.

“The property is in an ideal position to benefit from the high volume of traffic which passes through the area."

The freehold property comprises a 27,826 sq ft unit on a 1.65 acre site which includes around 100 parking spaces.

Neighbouring businesses include a Travelodge Hotel and a small fast food retail development with Burger King and Greggs on site. Permission was given on appeal last year for a roadside service station on a field site almost opposite.

Mr Cruikshank added: “ We are pleased to be bringing the property to the market and hope to secure a sale that will bring such a well-known site back into operational use. This is a property that could be suitable for a variety of uses, subject to the necessary planning consents.”

The Keelham Farm Shop business closed on 28 December 2023 and joint administrators Lyn Vardy and Jonny Marston of Alvarez and Marsal’s restructuring team in Leeds were appointed on 5 January 2024.

Much of the stock remains inside the shop, and Christmas trees and decorations are still in the windows and entrance.
