AN opportunity for everyone to find about all the activities and sporting groups available in Skipton will take place in early May at the town's Sandylands Sports Centre.

The first Skipton Community and Sports Day on Sunday, May 5 is the idea of the town council's community safety working group to show people the vast range of activities and groups there are in the area.

Councillor Brian McDaid, chair of the working group said the dynamic - and free - event promised a day brimming with excitement, fostering community spirit and advocating an active lifestyle for all.

There will be a diverse array of activities and attractions for all ages, including sports taster sessions, in table-tennis, badminton, football, tennis, padel, basketball and boxing; bouncy castles, Rombalds Radio, North Yorkshire Police, Fire, Craven College, Skipton Youth Council, North Yorkshire Youth, the Samaritans and many other community groups.

Cllr McDaid said: "This event encapsulates the spirit of our community and underscores the importance of staying active and connected. We extend a warm invitation to all to join us for a day of fun."

Daile Coope, Sandylands Sports Centre, added: "We are thrilled to host the Skipton Community and Sports Day."
