I RECEIVED my garden waste bin renewal notice from North Yorkshire Council back in February informing me that because I had already paid to the end of this March when I paid for a year back in 2023 they were reducing my cost to £42.00 instead of £46.50 for new customers.
They value loyalty I thought, then I read on and realised that although the council is still in its infancy they have already invested in London Mayor Sadiq Khan's hand book '101 ways to fleece the people who pay your over-inflated wages'.
The garden waste collection period had always been for a year but now it only spans about nine months, as testified to by my bin sticker which arrived today only valid to December 6. So I'm being charged a year's amount and only getting nine months worth of collections. Silly me thinking they were giving me a bit back.
