WHARFEDALE Harriers’ Ted Mason repeated his win of last year as he stormed to victory in BOFRA’s Hawkswick Dash Fell Race.

He recorded a time of 11min 44sec and finished 18 seconds ahead of his club mate Jack Smith with Calder Valley’s Joe Washington in third place.

The first lady home was Wharfedale’s Lucy Needham (15.03), with Hannah Russell (Helm Hill) second in 15.26 and Wharfedale’s Jean Powell (17.23) in third.

The under-17 race produced another Wharfedale win with the in-form Thomas Nelson also repeating his success of 2014 in a time of 12.41.

Second place went to James Turland in 13.19 and the third boy to cross the finish line was Helm Hill’s Jacob Aubrey in 13.33.

There was a one-two for Ilkley Harriers in the under-17 girls race with Jemima Elgood (14.24) and Lucy Haines (15.12) finishing ahead of Bingley Harrier’s Eliza Findlay (15.56).

There was a family double in the under-14 boys race with brothers Joe and Louis Hudson (Keighley and Craven) finishing first and second respectively.

Joe’s winning time was 11.24 and he finished 12 seconds clear of Louis. Ben Edmondson from Broughton Runners was third a further nine second adrift.

Clayton-le-Moors Briony Holt repeated her win of 2014, returning in 13.05 in the under-14 girls event. Helm Hill’s Katie Thurlow (13.32) and Mia Walsh (13.35) were second and third.

There was a battle to the bitter end in the under-12 race with Wharfedale’s Sam Smith (8.22), edging out Ambleside’s James Bowen (8.26) and Wharfedale team-mate Alex Thompson (8.27). Wharfedale’s girls also did well with Alice Jones 1winning in 9.14 and Charlotte Barrett taking third place in 9.42. Sandwiched in the middle, in second place, was Ilkley’s Poppy Anderson (9.28).

The under-nine race was won by Keighley & Craven’s James Sadler-Townsend (3.10) and he was followed to the line by the first three girl finishers.

The first girl was Wharfedale’s Helena Roberts (3.14). Second was Broughton’s Jessica Edmondson (3.20) and third was Wharfedale’s Hattie Bishop (3.22)

The second boy, in fifth place overall, was Sergio Yiasoumi (3.24) with Ilkley’s Dylan Carr (3.38) taking third place in the boys race.
