EMBSAY thwarted Haworth's hopes of taking over the Division One leadership when they inflicted a three-wicket defeat on the second-placed team.

The Bronte side batted first and made 218 with Damian Rowell (50) leading the way along with Jamie Rowell (45) and Dave Bainbridge (43).

Aslam Hussain finished with 6-17 for Embsay who faced a race against the cut off time of 8pm to seal victory. They got there with five minutes to spare thanks to Haroon Ali (60) and Elliot Stockton (58).

Rain rescued lowly Cowling for the third time this season. They were bowled out for 109 at Haworth Road as Waheed Rehman took 4-27. Ajmal Choudhry (39) was their top scorer. The Baildon Bottom side were on course for victory at 35-0 when play was abandoned.

Sam Solley (57) and Ryan Ridehalgh (38) helped Sutton to 185 against the bowling of Matt Wear (4-32) and Ryan Judson (4-53). Denholme’s last pair batted out time to rescue a point as they finished on 159-9. Neil Spencer was their top scorer with 67 as Richard Walker (4-60) posed problems.

Second placed Haworth Road II must have thought the game was up in their Division Two clash at Thornton when they were reduced to 22-8.

A ninth wicket stand of 70 between Kristian Hargreaves (59) and Jacob Jagger (12) enabled them to post a score of 93.

The West Craveners' skipper Paul Ellis (20) and 15 extras were the only double figure contributors as Thornton crashed to 78 in 42.1 overs as Jagger finished with 6-22.

Visitors Bradley made 185-2 at Ingrow with James Heseltine (95) and Chris Capstick (55) putting on 143 for the first wicket. The Hainworth side had reached 49-1 off 21 when play was halted by rain.

Superb batting by Matthew Lloyd (131) helped Glusburn make 228-8 at Park Field. However it wasn’t enough as Aziz Iqbal hit ten fours and nine sixes in a magnificent innings of 126 not out as he and Shuja Rashid (79) steered Barrowford to an eight-wicket win.

Cononley climbed above Sandy Lane into second spot in Division Three after beating them by 32 runs at the Coulthurst Ground.

They battled back from 8-4 to reach 137 with Tom Feather making 62 as Mohammed Ishtiaq took 5-30. Newcomer Anthony Haigh (5-15) and Lewis Fitton (3-19) had tSandy Lane back in the hut for 105.

Bingley Congs II skipper miscalculated when he declared his side’s innings on 166-5, with Dave Tarren (61) top scoring. In a pulsating timed finish, Dominic Kay (86no) took Embsay II to the winning post by five wickets with six minutes to spare.

John Beckwith (60), Joe Wood (72) and Joe Metcalfe (30) helped Gargrave to 228 down at Skipton CI as John Stuttard (4-50) and Alex Horsfield (3-53) battled to stem the tide.

The Sandylanders could only manage 125 in reply with Paul Mason making 58 as Wood took 3-23 and Ted Wilman (3-27).

DIVISION FOUR

Bradley II were forced to hang on grimly for a draw in a timed game at home to Ingrow II.

The Hainworth side made 134 with Dale Hoyle scoring 51 as Edson Richmond took 6-24.

Bradley were 103-9 when time expired with Ryan Higg (3-13) and Hoyle (3-28) battling to snatch the points.

Long Lee II had visitors Skipton CI II on the ropes when time was called on 109-7. Oliver Bellerby (60) had been the mainstay of the home team's 156. The Sandylands side were struggling on 109-7.

Cowling II got the better of their derby with Cononley II at the Coliseum. Amjid Shafait (32) and evergreen Steve Dalby (31) helped the home side to 128-9 as Peter Hatton took 4-44.

The visitors were undone by Jodi Town-Jones (4-13) and Shafait (3-6) and were dismissed for 67.
